Extraction
This hands on course is intended to familiarize the firefighter with the
challenges of a Car accident that they may be called to respond to. The
firefighter will utilize a number of different tools, and techniques to gain
access, enlarge opening, remove seats, and safely remove the patients. Scene
safety and management will be discussed as well as the impact this type of
incident will have on the responders and the community that they serve.

Backcountry GPS for Emergency Services
This is primarily a hands-on class to familiarize emergency personnel with the
use of Global Positioning System receivers. These devices can be extremely
useful for forest fires, searches, backcountry rescues, water related incidents,
and everyday operations. The focus will be on backcountry use, GPS can be used
in a variety of situations.
- Equipment needs: GPS compass and dress to sped the day outdoors. The
majority of both days will be spent in the woods.

Emergency Vehicle Operator PAD/O
Building on VFIS Emergency Vehicle Training Program is augmented with
presentation and discussion on the required knowledge, skills and abilities of a
successful pumping apparatus chauffer. Content includes identifying types of
apparatus with pumps, inspection and maintenance of apparatus and how to operate
emergency vehicles. individual performance will be rested by job sheets.
performance tests a completion of the VFIS EVDT competency driving proficiency
course .
- Equipment needs: NFPA 1971 Compliant PPE (Structural turn out gear)
- Prerequisites: proof of Drivers License, proof of insurance, 21 years
old, and 2 years experience signed off by Chief.

Pumps. Fire Streams & Hydraulics for PAD/O
A competent Pumping Apparatus Driver Operator must have a solid understanding of
moving water and operating the pump system to achieve properly pressured fire
streams. Understanding fixed water systems, students learning evolves around the
nozzles and their flow rates. Calculations for theoretical pressures and fire
ground hydraulics are key requirements in this module.

Training in Small Towns
This course is designed to provide fire and rescue personnel with basic tools to
coordinate training in smaller emergency organizations. The target audience is
folks charged with delivering compliant training to their respective
organizations who may interact with mutual aid departments as well. Leadership,
Safety, Motivation, Resolving conflict, Identifying training needs, Selecting
curriculum, Delivery of the material and Evaluation of programs are issues
addressed in this training.

NPPA/SCBA with Draeger (Fire Fighter I Module)
This NFPA 1001 (2008 standard) course is designed to familiarize students to the
basic components and proper usage of the Personal Protective Equipment including
Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. The classroom portion of the program
describes the need for wearing PPE approximately, are and maintenance of are
"protective equipment and air cylinders as well. Practical activities include
donning and doffing techniques, inspection of PPE & SCBA, filling & exchanging
cylinders. Students have an opportunity to display their skills and build
confidence as they traverse the maze in the Draeger Trailer. Target audience is
those folks new to the fire service or those wanting to refresh their PPE/SCBA
skills.

This class will introduce students to the basic operations of Aerial Apparatus.

This Course will address chapter 5.5 Ropes/ Rigging . Job Performance
Requirements, of NFPA 1006, standard for Rescue Technician Professional
Qualifications, 2003 edition, Program contents includes: Introduction to rescue
equipment and knots (2 hrs) rescue anchors (2hrs) Mechanical advantages systems
for raising (2 hrs) Fraction devices for lowering systems (2 hrs) Belay
techniques (1 hr) safety operations (1 hr).
